Description:	Verdi’s Requiem \| Cambridge University Symphony Chorus Cambridge University Symphony Chorus East Anglia Chamber Orchestra Richard Wilberforce conductor Philippa Boyle soprano Jess Dandy contralto Peter Auty tenor Mark Stone bass Pembroke College Choir Girton College Choir members of Cambridge University Chamber Choir and Christ's College Choir Verdi Messa da Requiem Op.45 The mighty Cambridge University Symphony Chorus presents Verdi’s colossal Messa da Requiem in the stunning setting of Ely Cathedral. A wonder of medieval engineering, the exuberantly decorated cathedral is the perfect setting for this most grand, incredibly dramatic and operatic requiem. Richard Wilberforce conducts, and the chorus is joined by East Anglia Chamber Orchestra, the choirs of Pembroke and Girton Colleges, soprano Philippa Boyle, contralto Jess Dandy, tenor Peter Auty, and bass Mark Stone. Composed in memory of writer and humanist Alessandro Manzoni, Verdi’s operatic approach to the sacred mass text is a masterpiece.
