    Auditions are held each academic term for Cambridge University Symphony Chorus (CUSC).

    Auditions for Lent term 2023 are now open. Please complete the form at https://forms.office.com/r/hKQHESNr09.

    How to book an audition

    • If you would like to audition, you will need to complete the application form. These will open shortly before auditions are held.
    • When you submit your application you will be sent a link to select your audition time. You are encouraged to sign-up early to choose from a wider range of times.
    • Detailed information on requirements for each ensemble can be found below.
    • If you want to apply for both choirs, please fill in a separate application form for each.
    • All current and past CUSC members are required to re-audition every 3 years.

    On the day of the audition

    Please arrive around 10 minutes before your audition time and sign-in with the helper at the front door. They will show you into your audition at the correct time.

    Richard Wilberforce, Musical Director of the Cambridge University Symphony Chorus 

    • Solo singing: please prepare your voice part for Handel's Messiah "And the Glory of the Lord". You can find parts to download from IMSLP.

    • Sing some scales and/or arpeggios to demonstrate vocal range and quality.

    • Complete some simple ear tests (e.g., picking out notes from a chord).

    • Pitch some basic intervals.

    • Some short (graded) sight reading tests.

    • Chat about your experience. 

    This is a very informal process and is just so that you get an opportunity to meet the Director and he can assess your range, sound and strengths.
